What is Sports Premium?

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding, The Primary PE & School Sport Premium, of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding has been allocated to all primary schools from 1st September 2013 and is to be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sports provision.

You can view how we have spent the money and the impact it has had over the last few year by clicking on the documents below:

  • Sports Premium Report 2022-2023

Year 6 Swimming Competency

Percentage of pupils within our 2022-2023 Year 6 cohort that could do each of the following:

  • Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres: 76%
  • Use a range of strokes effectively: 62%
  • Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations: – 70%

Schools can choose to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to provide additional provision for swimming but this must be for activity over and above the national curriculum requirements. We have not used it in this way, but this is being considered for this year’s allocation

Children at Jolesfield C.E. Primary School have regular swimming lessons in the Summer and Autumn terms using the school pool onsite.
